i am sensitive whenever my kids fell sick. especially my second born son.Compare to my eldest, he consumes breastmilk longer, so he'll be protected alot more right.at least to my thinking.
unfortunately he is not. he was caught by a coughing bug at the tender age of 3 month. how heartbroken i was, can you imagine.
now he's no where run from the coughing series. coughing followed by phlegm is another serious business. up until 11 month, on average , the series repeated once a month and lasted about 2 weeks.
we went for treatment, but seeing his activeness level and other factors, doctors clarified as mild bronchilitis, it will get better as he aged. he even warded once because he experienced mild croup.
i read alot about this, besides asking the doctors' advise. here my share:
1. he was prescribe singulair for one month period. before that, he took the oral for a week or two only. but the doctor later stretch the time to see any improvement. i noticed after a month ending, he experienced with bad diarrhea.after checking, it is caused by the singulair.
2. settle with airways medicine. i hate to see he's taking this syrup. No 1 because it a syrup and number 2 it also cause him diarrhea.
3. alot of balms, spray, nose drop. i have alots of them from vicks to traditional-self-proclaimed-home-remedy-balm in my house. some i used only half, and some i finished (becos its damn expensive). only to find out this:
Some of the ingredients in Vicks, notably the menthol, trick the brain into thinking that it is easier to breathe by triggering a cold sensation, which is processed as indicating more airflow. Vicks may make you feel better but it can’t help you breathe better.
An American paediatrician said if applied directly under the nose, the common remedy could cause a young child’s tiny airways to swell and fill with mucus, triggering severe breathing problems
why did not read this earlier -___-"
i drop all menthol-base balm immediate. will update you about this later.
4. i settle with air purifier inside my room. will upgrade in the living room as well.
5. leave him sleeping at night with eucalyptus oil. Drop the oil onto the handkerchief and put beside his bed. other than that, i was suggested to use lemon oil (or lemon fruit) with steamy water.
6. at 11 month old, i give him with VCO and Olive oil, alternately. it is said to boost the immune system.
7. and few days ago i found out an interesting study of probiotic. according to the study, probiotic could aid in reducing the phlegm and increase immune system
WOWWWW..i will try this soooon. but for a starter, i'll start with yogurt first.
thats all for now. Happy curing!
